Leap of Faith
ahhhhh I love being a missionary! The Christmas season is so special, although I do have to say that I am a little jealous of everyone back home who is getting a lot of snow! Today was a beautiful sunny day (which I was very grateful for cause it has been foggy and gray for the past two weeks) but it was like 50 degrees which was so weird, it being so close to Christmas time and it feeling so much like spring outside! We did take advantage of the nice weather and played American Football for almost two hours which was a blast, but the grass was pretty wet and we had some pretty story-worthy falls! haha
This week was so crazy busy for us! I always get to P-day thinking, wow, that went so fast, but at the same time thinking, what in the world happened on Tuesday that was so long ago! haha
Some highlight from this week:
Actually, rewinding back to Fast Sunday, I had such a cool experience bearing my testimony! I knew that I would go up to talk on Sunday but coming up with what to say, in Romanian, in front of everyone was really making me nervous, haha so I wrote out everything that I would say. But then as I was sitting there and listening to everyone else bear their testimony I kept getting the impression that I needed to just speak from the heart! I was so afraid I would forget how to speak Romanian when I got up there but I took the leap of faith and the testimony that I was able to give to our sweet ward was probably some of my best Romanian. I was not nervous or worried once as I was speaking about how I was pronunciating the words or grammatically forming sentences, and I was able to feel the spirit so strongly as I testified of Gospel truths, my love for those truths, and my love for the people of Romania! It was really special to be able to feel the gift of tongues working in my life!
On Wednesday of this week, we had a member that joined us for the whole day! It was so much fun, as she asked us to be able to experience a day in the life of a missionary! We had district council, lunch with Sara, Light the World finding on the street, media work, language study and a meeting with her! It was so fun to have her sweet spirit with us all day! I learned a lot from her testimony, faith, and courage.
On Thursday we went back to the home being renovated for Ukrainians and put together the last of the furniture for the 3rd and final floor of this building and project! Honestly, it was kinda sad to think that it was our last time! I have loved being able to go there and help! Our time at that building has been some of my favorite service activities while on my mission!
On Friday we had a lesson with our friend, Aurel! He has a beautiful faith and such great desires, he just struggles with accepting the responsibility and the sacrifice that will come with the great privilege of making sacred binding covenants with Heavenly Father! We pray that as we continue to teach him that his heart will be softened and that he will be able to know that what we are teaching him is true!
This Sunday was such a beautiful day! I love Sundays and the peace and joy that come from just attending church, helping others, and also partaking of the sacrament and renewing our covenants with God! We had so many inactive members and friends come to church on Sunday and it was a great service with amazing spirit-filled talks, a beautiful sunny day out, and so many members and support there was well!
I am so thankful to Heavenly Father for all the little blessings that he puts in my life to show/remind me that he is mindful of me, Sora Acton, my wants, my desires, my feelings, and my happiness! He is mindful and He is there! I know that to be true with all my heart!
Love you all and hope you have an amazing week full of happiness, peace, and joy!
Sora Acton
