Week 1

Buna (Hello),

I cannot express how grateful I am for this last week! I thought for sure it would be hard having to sit and stare at a screen all day!  I did get a pretty good size knot on my back right shoulder/neck ( probably from slouching) and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt, but really that is the only downside I can find from the last week.

On Monday I found out that my district (group of people preparing to go the Romanian mission same time as me) is just me and my companion! At first I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to have a larger group of people to mingle and participate with during classes, but after our first class, I realized that having just one other classmate made classes much more interactive and individualized!

Right now, our classes consist of Gospel training as well as an hour language class each day.  Our language teacher dove right in on the first day and only spoke Romanian the whole class.  She explained what she wanted us to do with a power-point, hand gestures, and maybe an English word here or there if we were completely lost! After that first hour of class my head hurt so bad! But on the bright side, I have learned very fast and am already able to speak a few sentences in Romanian along with several different words and phrases.

One take away from this week that I absolutely have cherished is the increased knowledge I have gained about my Heavenly Father and his love for me individually!

I absolutely love my companion! Her name is Sora Robinson (Sora means sister in Romanian).  We are very similar in many ways, from our hobbies to our sense of humor.  There was one time right before class we both had flies buzzing around our heads and we joked we may be too connected. Haha.

When I am not in class, I am spending time with my family! Im so grateful for my sweet mother and her efforts to make sure I am comfortable and well fed throughout my busy class schedules! The highlight of my week was being able to go on a long run Saturday morning with Michael running with me and Dad riding his bike. I am so grateful for my family and am really going to miss them when I head off to the Provo MTC next week! It has been especially fun being able to spend more quality time with my sweet younger brothers. ( I can’t say little anymore because they are both taller than me!)

Thank you all for your love, support, and prayers! I am so grateful to have such a large support group! Love you all!

Until next time,

Sora Acton

Faith brings out my ultimate silly side! haha
