Happy 4th of July
Happy 4th of July! For those in America, eat some yummy food for me today!!
Like always, this week has been extremely busy!!
Tuesday we had our district activity! We went to a school that is holding a lot of Ukrainian Refugees. There were several cots that were bought for beds for the refugees but the legs were not very sturdy and many of the metal legs broke. So what we did is helped to repair them by inserting wooden posts inside the hollow metal legs. There was probably about 15 of us missionaries so we broke off into groups of prepping the cots for repair, cutting the wood to the correct lengths, unscrewing bolts to put the wood in and then refastening new screws once the wood was added inside the legs, taping over metal that was ripped or broken and then putting them all back away! I am sure there was even steps that I missed! There was so much that we did in the three hours that we were there! We were able to fix 35 cots and we will be going back tomorrow to do more!
We also were able to teach our friend Ioana Tuesday night! She has been working at the Romexpo for the past few months and became really good friends with the Senior couple that was assigned to work there! Ioana has the biggest heart and is just a literal ray of light in the lives of all that meet her! She is so sweet! We taught her the Restoration lesson with the Wilkens and it was so amazing! It was a beautiful night as we were sitting on the balcony of the Wilkens Airbnb room and the spirit was so strong as we talked to her about Heavenly Father's love for us and the way He prepared the world for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was also special because we were able to do this lesson the night before the Wilkens left back to America! I learned so much during the lesson, and it was such a cool experience to teach the lesson along side two missionaries who are so wise and on their second mission! (They served their first mission in Russia about 3-4 years ago)!
Thursday night we were invited to go to an opera house with a member and watch a quartet play! There was a flute player, two violins, and a cello! It was so pretty and so much fun to spend time with this member who is also a Ukrainian Refugee.
This whole week we were trying to play catch up on some busy work that we need to get done but each day something else would pop up that would need our attention! On Friday night, we had a member that needed our help cleaning his apartment. He has been pretty sick the last few weeks and his landlord would be coming over the next day to check the state of the apartment. We spent 2.5 hours at his apartment with the Elders cleaning and by the time we were done it looked like a whole new place! It was actually so much fun! I love cleaning and seeing the before and after of projects! I also know that by cleaning the apartment, we made it possible for him to feel more peace and calm from having an organized and clean home!
On Sunday night we were able to go to our Branch President's home for dinner and they fed us so much food but it was soooo good!! I am always very grateful whenever we are fed! The members here are so generous and kind! One of my most favorite ways of spending time together is over a good meal, all gathered around the dinner table, enjoying each other's company! It reminds me a lot of my childhood memories of having the missionaries over!
Today for the 4th of July we had a big bbq lunch with all the young missionaries and senior couples! There was watermelon, pasta salads, potato salads, hamburgers, sausages, and Sora Keller made a fruit pizza! It was amazing food!! And then after eating we had a water balloon fight, played pickle ball, volleyball, and spent time all together in the sun! It was honestly such a fun day! I am so grateful for all the people I get to serve around here in Bucharest! I learn so much form each of them, they are all amazing missionaries and I honestly am just so thankful for the blessing it is to serve here at this time!
I hope you all have a great day and week! Take care, and I love you all!!
