I'm Staying In Cluj!!
Buna Ziua Tuturor!! Sper că ați avut o saptamana foarte buna! (I hope you all had a very good week!)
This week was so crazy!! We had so many lessons! It honestly was hard to fit in everything we needed to get done this week, which is such a good problem to have!
It was nice because on Monday we had a nice chill day. The senior couple here brought us to the mall to get a few things we needed and they also offered to help by stuff for us to make 72 hour kits! With the war happening right next door in Ukraine, we have been re-checking all our supplies to make sure that we have everything we need if something were to happen. I am really not worried at all but it is always better to be prepared and safe than sorry.
Maria!
Oh how I love Maria so much! She is the one I talked about the last two weeks that we have been teaching and she has just been soaking up everything!! She loves our lessons, she brings her granddaughter to the English classes we hold every Tuesday night, she has come to church every Sunday, and she has been taking two lessons a week with us! This week we taught her the Plan of Salvation and she absolutely loved it! We drew out a picture on the white board of the Plan of Salvation and she loved it so much that as soon as she got home she printed out the picture and framed it! And then on Sunday at church she gave us the framed copy and each individual smaller copies of the picture from the white board of the plan of salvation! hahaha It makes me so happy that she is so excited about everything we teach her!! We have a lesson with her on Tuesday and we are going to extend the baptismal question to her! I am so excited!! I really think she is ready! She even got up and bore her testimony at church today!
One of the highlights of my week this week was when the Downs invited us over to their house for dinner! They made us taquitos, mexican rice, refried, beans, and guacamole!! It was so yummy!! I was looking forward to it all day long and was absolutely in heaven once we got to their house! Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love food and how much it means to me when someone goes out of their way to get me or make me food!! It might sound silly to some but it means so much to me! haha! That was on Thursday night and then on Saturday night they made beef stew (SOOOO GOOOOOD) and offered some to us as well! We do not get very many dinner appointments here in Romania. Most weeks we make all of our own food, so when someone feeds us, it is a big deal and is a very special treat!
This Sunday we also got to go to Baia Mare with the Downs and visit the Tongan families that live there! It is a 2.5 hour drive there so we don't get to go that often, but I am so glad that we were able to go because the families there appreciate the company very much! Their testimonies and strength inspire me as they are in a foreign country with little kids and don't have a branch to go to in person every Sunday! The Fako'silia family had covid so Elder Downs was able to give the parents and one of their sons a blessing!
Also on Sunday, Fast and Testimony meeting was so good!!! The Cordon's were at church with their 5 kids and their grandma, along with a mom and her two children from Ukraine. The Cordon's are letting her stay at their house for a little bit until she can get things figured out. She has a 10 month old and an 8 year old daughter. I felt so much love for them, it makes my heart ache to think of all these little kids that are having to flee their home and their country. . . AND I heard that there is a whole orphanage from Ukraine that got relocated to a hotel here in Cluj and I just want to go there and help so bad!!!!
Last little bit of good news for the week is that we got transfer calls this week and I GET TO STAY IN CLUJ!!!! I thought for sure I would be leaving but my comp is leaving and I am staying. My new comp is the only native missionary in the mission right now! So I'm hoping that will help me a lot with my language!!
Anyways, I love you all so much! Thank you for all of your prayers! I am safe, happy, healthy, and loving every single day here in Romania!! Hope you all have a great week and don't forget how much I love each of you!! (Sooo much!!) Talk to you next week!!
Sora Acton
This is Aunt Susie, not Sarah, but I couldn't figure out how to log in and Sarah's name was there so I took it!! HaHA!! I just wanted to let you know how much we love you and your letters and we love hearing about your experiences in Romania! We are praying for your safety as this war rages in Ukraine. We hope you can help out in the orphanages there. So exciting to hear about the sweet sister you are teaching--I know the Lord blesses you because you work so hard and are so faithful.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs and love to you.
Sister Acton! This is a great report. I love how much The Plan of Salvation meant to that sister. It's easy to take for granted what we have. You are wise to get your preparedness items stocked up. That is a good idea for all of us. Keep up the amazing work! I'm so excited for you and these experiences.
