Transfers, Train Rides, and Castles

I am no longer in training WHHHAAATTT! That is crazy! How is it already the end of January! I can't believe that I am at the beginning of my 5th month in the mission! Where does the time go? haha

This week was crazy. . . per usual!

MONDAY

It was 9 degrees outside Monday morning so we walked to a big pond that was frozen. . .and of course we had to walk on it! On our way to the church we bought some frozen pizzas and the rest of our day was just chillin at the church emailing, eating pizza, and playing games with the Elders. It was really nice to have a more calm P-day this week! Especially because the rest of our week was absolutely crazy!

TUESDAY

Today was Sora Saunders last day in Cluj so we packed it as full as we could get it! We started our day at a member's home; Sora Coiban! She is the sweetest, she fed us breakfast and ice cream and talked our ears off about her life and the many experiences she has had! Afterwards we went to lunch with another one of our really good friends; Tabita!(She is the one that brought us to her hometown about a month ago and her family drove us around where they live). It was nice to be able to talk with her and I am starting to understand more and more of her Romanian so that was an accomplishment for me! The rest of our day was spent at the church where we had three lessons back to back! We taught our friends Victoria, Blanka, and Elena! All three of their lessons went so well and they were great lessons to end Sora Saunders' time here! After our lessons we were about to leave the church because we had to get home to finish packing and eat before we had to get on a train! Right as we were about to leave people started showing up for English classes and the Elders were not back yet so we had to wait till the senior couple got to the church before we could leave. Once the senior couple got to the church we ran all the way home! It usually takes us about 20-25 minutes to walk home and we ran home in 10, haha. It was definitely a little scary running down hill in the snow but we did it without falling once! When we got home we were able to pack, clean, get ready for the next day, cook a pizza and make it to the train station with 10 minutes to spare (thanks to the Downs who drove us!) We spent Tuesday night eating cold pizza in the small room of the sleeper train. It was the best last night together before Sora Saunders left back to America!

WEDNESDAY

So, usually what happens when you have a companion that is going back home is you say good bye to them in the morning and then they get a fun last day and you go with your new companion. But, because Sora Saunders was the only girl going home and Sora Rucker (the Mission President's wife) was not able to make it this time, I got to go on the trip with President, the AP's and Sora Saunders and Elder Bradburry (the other Elder going home). Today was SO MUCH FUN!! We got to go to the PeleČ™(pronounced Pelish) Castle, which has actually been used in many Christmas movies including the Christmas Prince (fun fact) and we were also able to go to a really nice restaurant for Dinner! It was so much fun to spend one last day with Sora Saunders! I love her so much! I have learned so much from her the past 3 months and am so grateful for her example and her testimony!

THURSDAY-SATURDAY

Thursday was my first full day with Sora Wenstrom, my new companion! She is so much fun and I know that this transfer is going to be a blast! She only has two more transfers left so that probably means this will be my last transfer in Cluj, sad but I am going to make the most of it! Thursday night we took a sleeper train back to Cluj and actually met someone from Virginia on the train! What are the odds? haha Friday and Saturday were beautiful days in Cluj. It has been snowing at night and then is nice, beautiful, and sunny during the day! It is so beautiful and the air has been so crisp and clean! I have loved every second of it!

SUNDAY

I gave my first talk in Romanian today and it actually went so well!! I could feel the spirit so strongly as I read my talk (I wrote it all out in English and then translated it so there were still some words that I was not sure of). As I gave the talk I could feel the spirit testify to me that what I was saying was true and that others were benefiting from what I had prepared and shared! The love that I have for my little branch here in Cluj is so strong! It will be really hard to leave this area! These people have become family and their strength and testimonies have blessed my life in so many ways!

I love you all so much! Thank you for your prayers and for all the little messages you send me! It makes my day! Have a great week!

Va iubesc!!

Sora Acton
