MTC Life
Buna!
The last few days have felt like a month! I have had so much packed into each day. It is so weird that I have only been here at the MTC for two days. I'll try not to make this too long but I want to tell you about all the exiting things that have been happening.
Wednesday Mom, Dad, Michael, Joseph and I all got up around 4:20 am to get ready to bring me to the airport! They are all so kind for sacrificing there time for me! My flight was from Wenatchee to Seattle and then from Seattle to SLC. When I got to SLC and picked up all my bags I realized that I should not have packed so much. Carrying three rolling bags by myself left my hand and arm all bruised! haha I am going to need to find a better way of carrying them or find some random kind citizen to help me! Haley Martin came and picked me up from the airport and it was so nice to be able to see and talk to her! I am seriously so blessed to have so many great friends in my life! We went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, my last meal there till probably after the mission (so sad!), and Amy and Jason Garry came and met us there with little Rock and Oakley! It was so much fun to be able to see them! Haley had to get back to work so the Garry's brought me to the MTC and I got to sit in the back between Rock and Oakley which hands down was the best seat in the car! I am sure going to miss all of them!
The rest of the day was a whirlwind at the MTC! Meeting my companion (who is the absolute blessed! I seriously got so lucky! We are almost the same person), going to orientations, meeting are MTC president and an amazing devotional at the end of the day. The devotional was so good and I wish that I could share my whole experience with you all but I'll just share my favorite part! The devotional was about being more Christlike and not giving in to the natural man! Over a recorded devotional, Elder Bednar shared with us that Christ turns outward in love, compassion, and service where as the natural man turns inward and is self-centered, self-observed and selfish. They counseled us to turn outward like Christ and as we forget ourselves and are more focused on helping others that is when we will grow the most! They shared several stories about individuals who were Christlike and were able to find strength by serving others (even when those people were rude and inconsiderate). This really opened my eyes and made me realize that my experience here and on the mission will be so much better if I look outwards in service instead of focusing on all the things that may be bothering me.
Thursday was my first full day and I learned so much!! I actually love my classes! I love learning a new language and the way that they teach in the classes are so interactive and really help my learning style! I am so grateful for my teachers and my companion who help me so much in and out of classes!
Today I was also able to attend the Provo temple and it was so peaceful, refreshing and enlightening! We also found a fun group to play volleyball and basketball with for about 2 hours today which was a blast! I love you all and Ill talk to you in a week! Maybe by then I will have more to say to you in Romanian! Wish you all the best!
So happy you're enjoying yourself at the MTC Rachel... you have an AMAZING attitude!!!
