Last Week in the MTC
Buna Ziua!
Hello everyone! I hope your week has been a good one! I cannot believe it is already Friday again! My weeks have been flying by! They almost feel a little too fast! I honestly wish I had more time in my day to be able to study the language! We have been learning so much, from new words and phrases to reflexive, dative, accusative, and genitive sentences! I was never the best at grammar in High School but after learning Romanian I will be a pro! There are so many random grammar rules that you have to follow! Verbs must be conjugated to me, you, he/she, we, your, or they. Verbs are also said differently in past tense (you can't just add 'ed') Nouns have four main ways to be pronounce: word, the word, words, the words. For example, dog in Romanian is câine, the dog is câinele, dogs is câini, and the dogs is câinii. Another example is book. Book in Romanian is carte, the book is cartea, books is cărți, and the books is cărțile. There are also different ways to say a noun depending if the sentence is masculine or feminine and singular or plural. haha and that is not all. I honestly still get a little confused trying to explain it all! I know a good amount of words but forming sentences gets a little tricky! To say 'my mothers voice', in Romanian you would format that sentence by saying, 'the voice the mother of mine' which would be 'vocea mamei mele'. And still I am not 100% that is correct!
I also have been loving all the devotionals that we have! I honestly can feel Heavenly Fathers love for me stronger than I ever have before! The spirit that fills this campus is so strong and so special and I am so grateful for the opportunity I have been able to have to be here in person!
On Tuesday we had one of the best devotionals I have heard in a long time. The main focus on repentance and becoming more like Christ (which has really been a theme in all my studies and classes this past week!). Bishop L. Todd Budge spoke to us and incorporated so many great scriptures in with his message which I loved! He shared the Greek root meaning of Repentance which means change; change in mind, change in knowledge, and change in breath. I loved that concept! It is because our Father in Heaven that we are able to breath! Everything that we have is because of Him and we owe it to him to do all we can to bring good to this world through kindness, service and obedience. He talked about how 'there is nothing more important than daily repentance. As we choose to repent we choose to change when we choose to repent we choose to become like the Savior a little more each day.' I know that by striving to become closer to my Savior I will be filled with joy and will have a strong foundation to rely on when trials and the tough parts of life come my way! I also know that by evaluating my actions everyday through daily repentance I will be more aware of what things I need to change in my life to become more like Him! I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my Heavenly Father with all my heart and am so excited to be able to fully devote my whole life these next 18 months to serving them!
I love you all so much and wish you all the best! Take Care! The next time I send out an email it will be from Romania!!
Oh Sora Acton! I absolutely love your love for all things nature! Had I been your age and served with you, I think we would have been tight friends! I can so relate with the enthusiasm for sunsets, beauty, nature, walks outside, etc. Right up my alley! I love how observant you are . Hang in there with the language... you carry the mantle as you are on the Lord's errand. All the best to you as you wrap up your last days in the Provo MTC. You will forever cherish your short time there!
